The Book | Inspiration

Beyond Diamond Rings is a book about the survival and the evolving of women over the last half century plus.  It tells many hued tales of several heroines, from Partition’s tragedies Bharti, Sita and Harini, and the bridal- night- abandoned  Maya to the embattled Satya, Duru and Neelima  to the ultra modern Anjali, Mohini, Lajjo, and a host of others.

Spanning five generations, it zeroes  in on key women of an extended family of Partition’s Bhaibund  migrants, once the Merchant Princes of Sindh, known for their then-global trade, ostentatious homes and fabulous women. BDR follows a the family of women from Pre Partition Hyderabad Sindh to the four corners of the globe, down to the twenty first century, evolving from traditional home makers into the New Indian Women dealing today’s issues.

Although the story is set amongst Sindhi women, the issues they face are universal to all women, making BDR a book by a woman, about Sindhi women, for all women!
